Underlay materials
Perfect Sub-Floor
Depending on the situation in the room, attention must be paid to the correct underlay material when laying the floorings. Different requirements with respect to thermal insulation, transmitted or reflected sound reduction require the correct insulating underlay to be chosen.

PE foam
2 or 4 millimetre thick PE foam is the most inexpensive version. Average values for transmitted sound insulation and thermal insulation. The disadvantage is the low density and therefore pressure stability. Due to its small height, you can ideally use 2 millimetre foam for renovation work. PE foam is environmentally friendly, CFC-free and 100 percent recyclable.
Available in different roll lengths
Transmitted sound reduction: Around 16 decibels
Unit weight: Approx. 20 kilograms per m³

PE foil
Especially when laying on new sub-floors (residual moisture) and if large temperature differences exist compared to the rooms below, PE foil must be used as a vapour barrier. It prevents damage to the laminate flooring caused by rising moisture.
Rolls of material: 30 m², 0.12 millimetres thick
Folded, self-service packaging: 10 m², 0,20 millimetres thick

PE napped foam, blue
PE napped foam combines the properties of lightweight foams with enormous pressure stability.
It is therefore ideally suited for rooms with high usage (for example, commercial areas). These foams also support the Click laminate connections.
Dimensions: 12.5 m² x 2 millimetres
Transmitted sound reduction: Around 19 decibels
Unit weight: 120 kilograms per m³
Pressure stability: Around 6.5 tonnes per m²

PE parquet underlay, alu clad
The ideal combination of insulation and moisture protection is the PE underlay with an aluminium clad.
In addition the mat is overlapped and self-adhesive, so that it ensures absolutely reliable moisture protection but is very easy to lay.
Dimensions: 12.5 m² x 2 millimetres
Transmitted sound reduction: up to 16 decibels
Unit weight: Around 20 kilograms per m³
Pressure stability: Around 0,8 tonnes per m²

PS parquet underlay, alu clad
The aluminium clad PS parquet underlay is ideal for laying on mineral sub-floors. It levels out unevenness and provides high thermal insulation. It is therefore not suitable for laying on hot water underfloor heating. The aluminium clad provides protection against residual moisture from the screed.
Dimensions: 7 m² x 4 millimetres
Unit weight: 40 kilograms per m³
Transmitted sound reduction: up to 20 decibels
Very good pressure stability: Around 5 tonnes per m²

Wooden fibre board
The fibre board is made from wooden fibres and is especially suitable for thermal insulation, for example against colder rooms located under the floor (basement). It is therefore not suitable for laying on underfloor heating. Due to the high wood content it is imperative to lay PE foil moisture protection under the wooden board.
Dimensions: 7 m² x 5.5 millimetres
Reflected sound reduction: 4.7 sone
Transmitted sound reduction: up to 19 decibels
Very good pressure stability: Around 7 tonnes per m²

Raw felt board
This thin felt board can only be used on floors without any unevenness. An inexpensive and easy to lay solution. Its low thermal resistance enables it to be used on underfloor heating. Due to its high paper content, PE foil should be laid underneath it also to provide moisture protection.
Dimensions: 20 m² mal 0.8 millimetre
Unit weight: Etwa 400 grams per cubic metre
Transmitted sound reduction: Around 12 decibels
Thermal resistance: 0.05 m² K/W
