Laminate build-up
Build-up of laminate floorings: What are laminate floorings?
The laminate is made up of several layers:
Layer 1:
First there is the upper wear layer and a decor layer with one or several layers, depending on the production method used. The wear layer consists of a special cellulose (paper) treated with synthetic resin as the durable surface of the flooring. The decor layer gives the laminate flooring its attractive appearance.
Layer 2:
Underneath the decor is the substrate made of wood-based materials (HDF).
Layer 3:
On the base of the flooring you will find an impregnated layer on the back of the substrate for increasing dimensional stability and which acts as a moisture barrier.
All three layers are permanently bonded with each other by resin, heat and pressure. Depending on the type of production, a differentiation is made between directly laminated laminate floorings (DPL for "Direct Pressure Laminate") or indirectly laminated floorings (HPL for "High Pressure Laminate").
